New England Patriots at Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview

The last two Super Bowl Champions meet on the field in Week 4 as the Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) host the New England Patriots (2-1). They are also two of the top five teams in the AFC to win Super Bowl LV in February 2021 with the Chiefs at +450 and the Patriots at +2000.

The Week 4 game kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City and will be televised on CBS.

These teams have met 38 times in their history, with the Chiefs leading 19-16-3. Last year they played in New England in December, and the Chiefs won 23-16. The Patriots' last win came in the 2019 AFC Championship Game with a 37-31 overtime win in Kansas City, their first road win in the series since 2004.

New England Patriots Betting Outlook: Keep Up On Offense

After beating the Las Vegas Raiders 36-20 on Sunday, the Patriots are 2-1 ATS this season, and the over is 2-1 in their games. Their offense leads the NFL in rushing yards (178 yards per game), ranks eighth in total yards (409 yards per game) and 11th in scoring (29 points per game).

The Patriots defense is 11th in passing yards against (235.3 yards per game), 19th in rushing (122.3 yards per game) and 11th in scoring (22 points per game).

Quarterback Cam Newton threw for 162 yards with one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's win over the Raiders. On the season, he has completed 68% of his passes for 714 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

The ground game led the attack against the Raiders, with Sony Michel running nine times for 117 yards and Rex Burkhead getting two touchdowns with 49 yards. Overall, the Patriots ran 38 times for 250 yards against the Raiders, an average of 6.6 yards per carry. Michel has a team-best 173 yards on the season while Newton has a team-leading four rushing scores.

None of the receivers had big games against the Raiders as Damiere Byrd had the most catches (three) and N'Keal Harry had the most yards (34). Burkhead outdid them both with seven catches out of the backfield for 49 yards and a third touchdown. Julian Edelman leads the team on the season with 15 catches for 259 yards.

The defense sacked Derek Carr twice and forced three turnovers in the 16-point win. The Patriots have forced seven turnovers on the season, second-most in the NFL.

Kansas City Chiefs Betting Outlook: Stop Cam

In beating the Ravens as an underdog Monday night, the Chiefs moved to 2-1 ATS this season, and the under is surprisingly 2-1 in their three games.

The Chiefs' offense ranks fourth in passing yards (292.3 yards per game), fifth in total yards (433.3 yards per game) and fourth in scoring (30.3 points per game). Despite shutting down Lamar Jackson, they still rank 27th in rushing yards allowed (153 yards per game), fourth in passing yards (202.7 yards per game) and sixth in points allowed (20 points per game).

Mahomes was masterful against the Ravens, going 31-for-42 for 385 yards with four touchdown passes. He also ran four times for 26 yards and another score. On the season, he has completed 68% of his passes for 898 yards, nine touchdowns and zero turnovers.

Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire totaled 25 touches for 134 yards in the game with 64 rushing yards on 20 attempts. The rookie from LSU has 240 yards on 55 carries with a touchdown on the season.

Five players had at least 60 yards receiving as Mahomes spread the ball around. Tight end Travis Kelce (six catches, 87 yards), wide receiver Mecole Hardman (four catches, 81 yards), wide receiver Tyreek Hill (five catches, 77 yards), Edwards-Helaire (five catches, 70 yards) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (seven catches, 62 yards) all had big games.
