Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs Betting Preview

Two NL Central foes will get together at the friendly confines of Wrigley Field on Friday for the start of a three-game series. The Chicago Cubs, hoping to return to the playoffs after a disappointing 2019, will host the Milwaukee Brewers, who are fresh off of two straight postseason appearances.

Brewers Outlook

After a surprising 2018 which ended in a division title and an NLCS appearance, the Brewers followed it up with a Wild Card spot last season. Now in 2020, with a solid lineup led by a former MVP and a new-look pitching staff, Milwaukee is hoping to make it back to October.

RF Christian Yelich is must-see TV, and after winning the MVP in 2018, is definitely a threat to win it again this season. Veterans like CF Lorenzo Cain and LF Avisail Garcia will join Yelich in the outfield. Elsewhere in the lineup, young 2B Keston Hiura just finished off an impressive rookie year, while 1B Justin Smoak and DH Ryan Braun will provide some additional pop.

On the mound, Brandon Woodruff will take a crack at the Cubs. The 27-year old proved that he is an above-average pitcher in 2019, going 11-3 with a 3.62 ERA and 143 strikeouts in nearly 122 innings. A true breakout season this year would really help Milwaukee in their quest to return to the playoffs.
