The defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs are looking forward to coming home as they host the New Orleans Hornets, which are up 2-0 in the best-of-seven series. The Hornets buried the defending champs in both games at the Big Easy, winning game one 101-82 and game two 102-84. The Spurs are hoping they regain their championship form on their return home. The Hornets were 26-15 on the road this season, while the Spurs went 34-7 at home. The teams split the regular season series, 2-2 with each winning once on the others home floor.

The Spurs are once again favored. They are a 6 1/2 point choice and the total on the game is 183 points. The Hornets are 55-33 ATS and have covered five of thier last seven games. They are 14-10 ATS as underdogs. The Hornets are 25-17 ATS on the road. They have gone 10-3 ATS when playing on two days rest. The Hornets shot lights out at home and hope to carry that heat to Texas. They also controlled the boards early and often, which will be a big key tonight. Point guard Chris Paul has been terrific. He scored 30 points and handed out 12 assists in game two and has turned the ball over just three times through the first two games. David West, Peja Stojakovic and Tyson Chandler have dominated the paint. West scored 30 points and pulled nine rebounds in the opener and posted a double-double in game two. Stojakovic has scored 47 points through the first pair, while Chandler has bested everyone on the glass. The Hornets have shot 49-percent from the field so far and have been on fire from beyond the arc. They shot 59-percent (10-17) in game two. Their defense has been terrific and will look to pressure the ball handler again tonight. They forced 15 turnovers last time out.

The Spurs must go back to basics and play their style of basketball. Look for a halfcourt offense with a lot of penetration from the guards. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili have been held in check, as the Hornets have made them beat them from the outside. Look for more screens to free the guards and allow them to make it into the lane. Michael Finley will need to help by knocking down some shots from the perimeter. Tim Duncan scored just five points on 1-of-9 shooting in game one and had just three rebounds. He scored 18 in game two and grabbed eight boards. He'll have to do a better job tonight, but hasn't found much room against the Hornets active frontline. The center spot has been a problem all season and the Spurs will once again try and get major minutes from Kurt Thomas, which leaves them a bit undersized. The bench will need to step up and provide more offense as well.
